Underdog New York Jets beat Colts in Indianapolis

Since the start of the 2012 season and Luck’s career, the Colts are 16-2 in AFC South games, 17-15 outside the division.

“We’re not going to survive by the pass only”, the coach said Monday.

“He took a lot of hits”, Bowles said. However, this division looks much stronger than it has in previous years, and the three bottom feeders have arguably improved over this offseason, while we may not be able to say the same about the Pats. “We’re not where we want to be, but we’re on the way”.

Through two games, the player many would be the MVP this year has been anything but.

New York scored just 20 points off turnovers all of last season. Obviously it has something to do with protection, and also the Jets defense being very good, but the Colts are in trouble if Luck can’t shake off whatever it is that’s bugging him. Head coach Chuck Pagano knows it, saying that, “You just got to take care of the football”.

The Colts need to win the battle at the line of scrimmage.

The Colts were concerned about the Jets power running game and devoted resources to stopping it. They did. The outcome: New York is headed toward its initial 2-0 begin subsequent to 2011. In two games, Luck has been intercepted five times and lost a fumble. Jets safety Calvin Pryor picked it off and returned it to the Colts’ 9, setting up a 6-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Eric Decker.

The touchdown came on a 26-yard pass to cap an eight-play, 91-yard drive with 10:07 remaining in the fourth quarter and briefly cut the deficit to 10-7. They were shut out in the first half Monday night against the Jets, who spoiled the Colts’ home opener. They were called for 11 penalties and the steady stream seemed to continually bring back big plays and stall drives. “I think everybody understands that”. “That’s hard”, Luck said in response.

REVIS RULES: Revis has long been a thorn in the side of the Colts, and he was at it again Monday. An MRI on Tuesday should reveal more. But the injuries could be more problematic for Indy. From the opening kickoff, the Colts looked beat right from the start. There is no timetable for his return.

But New York’s defense was the real story of the night. He wasn’t the only one giving the ball to the Jets, though, as running back Frank Gore also coughed up the pigskin during the loss. Gore finished with 57 yards on 18 carries, extending the Colts’ streak without a 100-yard rusher to 36 games.
