Ali Landry’s In-Laws Found Dead After Alleged Kidnapping

The father and brother of acclaimed Mexican film director Alejandro Gomez Monteverde, husband of former Miss USA Ali Landry, were found dead Saturday after being kidnapped on September 4 in Tampico, Mexico, and held hostage for 16 days.

The family had paid a ransom to the kidnappers, however, the kidnappers didn’t follow through with their promise to release them, according to Televisa news anchor Carlos Loret de Mola.

“With a heart full of pain and sadness, I ask for prayers for my friend and “compadre” Alejandro Gomez Monteverde and all his family”.

They were kidnapped from their home in nearby Tamaulipas roughly two weeks ago.

Earlier this year, Alejandro Monteverde posted a picture on Instagram sharing a toast with his father, calling him “My best friend, my life mentor, the wisest man I know”.

The Veracruz Attorney General’s Office said in a statement that they are investigating the deaths with authorities in Tamaulipas. Currently, there is a drug cartel war in the region between Los Zetas and the Gulf Cartel, specifically in the area where the bodies were found.

Juan Manuel was a business partner at the La Pecerita restaurant that had allegedly been connected with drug cartel activity. According to The Advocate, kidnapping for ransom is common in the area.

The local government has been fighting this type of violent crime with debatable results.

Landry and Monteverde Wednesday in 2006 and have three children together.
