Giants part with WR Parker

Readers may roll their eyes at my ability to push this guy into any conversation, but Kerry Collins is 12th on this list (40,922) and should be eclipsed by Manning shortly. They’re not swimming in talent by any means, but this team has proven commodities that can contribute to a mildly successful season.

Manning has not been at his best in his 21 starts against the Redskins – his passer rating of 79.5 is lower than his career mark of 82.4. While Odell Beckham Jr. is drawing double coverage, Randle has still failed to put up stats.

Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, who fought through a torn patellar tendon to participate in training camp only to have a calf injury sideline him for a month, was back on the field on Tuesday. Silver lining, I guess. In the 50 games since their win, Big Blue are 22-28 with zero playoff qualifications. The Redskins have the NFL’s No. 2 ranked pass defense. “That’s our role, every game and every quarter”. “So I really don’t care for that”. And they must know this: If they cannot beat the Redskins (1-1) at home, with their season already on the brink, who can they beat?

And recently, it has been reported that Preston Parker has been released after poor performances in two consecutive games for the Giants. He caught 11 passes for 132 yards during the preseason. Generally speaking, McAdoo’s offense is conservative, but what we’ve seen from 2015 has been categorically timid. Parker totaled 36 receptions for the Giants last season, so he figures to draw interest from teams in need of receiving help. This is a good example of the difference between causation and correlation. Gruden would lovingly kid that Jones is far from ideal because he had “a couple little fubar’s” on special teams. One of Reese’s marquee signings of a year ago, Rashad Jennings, is a plodding running back who has managed to average a measly 3.8 yards per carry since joining the team. Entering the fourth quarter, the Giants have an 82.7 percent expected chance of winning according to Pro-Football-Reference’s win probability model (read about the formula in place here).

“There are times when it’s tremendous, and other times when it’s not.”

They have just one turnover in two games.

Their very own Throwback Thursday. This doesn’t really happen for this team though. Perhaps Randle’s knee tendonitis is worse than we know? The ability to close out games – even in their wins – has been something that New York have struggled with in recent years. We’ve moved the ball well.

Giants fans will always have those memories.

Shane Vereen made another big play thanks to one of many missed tackles by the sloppy Falcons’ defense.
