Weber, a 25-year-old rookie who began the season in Double-A, posted a 3.26 ERA in his first three starts since being called up from Triple-A.

The Atlanta Braves were putting together their best run in five weeks with a combination of unusually good hitting and solid pitching efforts.

Fortunately for the Marlins (67-87), their offense bailed out Fernandez, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first and three in the third to take their first lead. Marimon allowed four earned runs on six hits in his inning plus of work.

Dee Gordon, Christian Yelich, Miguel Rojas and Bour had three hits apiece, and every starter but Fernandez had at least two.

They were glad to help Fernandez become a record-breaker. First baseman Freddie Freeman, who came off the bench and contributed a two-run double and a three-run homer in the series finale against the Mets, is expected to return to the lineup after not starting Wednesday due to a sore right wrist. It was the fourth time in his career that he has led off a game with a homer, and it has happened twice this season. It was far and away the worst start out of the four that Weber has had for the Braves, running his ERA all the way up to 5.91.

Fernandez strained his right biceps August 7 against the Braves in Atlanta and missed a month, but the 23-year-old has yet to allow more than three earned runs since returning from Tommy John surgery July 2. 12 in his first start since the biceps injury, and gave up two runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings against Washington six days later. “Any time you do something nobody else has done in this game, it’s pretty cool”.

Physically, Fernandez (6-0) was fine with his usual velocity in the upper 90s.

“It’s still painful, but I try not to think about it and go out and play”, he said. “A lot of people, a lot of friends told me about it. I was distracted about it. It feels special”.

Bour was up next and quickly tied the game when he crushed a 2-0 changeup for his 20th homer of the season.

“We battled, ” manager Fredi Gonzalez said.

The Braves fell behind 11-4 through four innings and outscored the Marlins 7-1 the rest of the way, cutting the lead to 12-11 in he eighth when Nick Swisher drew a one-out, bases-loaded walk from reliever Mike Dunn. The Braves are 8-2 in Teherans last 10 starts vs. Marlins.
