Warriors hire Nash on part-time basis

OAKLAND -When Warriors coach Steve Kerr pitched his friend Steve Nash on joining the Warriors’ staff this summer, he didn’t simply ask.

“That’s a wonderful trait to share with young players, so should we be lucky enough to finalize that, I’d be a really happy guy”.

Jackson said great players such as Bryant and Michael Jordan, who teamed with him for six titles in Chicago, can still handle the speed of the game as they get older, but “your body fails you”. “I don’t know.”As I’ve told Steph, his skill level is so high that although we’ll be on the court together, I don’t know how much I can help him on the court”. He dealt with headaches, nerve pain and stiffness, along with the utter frustration of being inactive throughout a summer after winning an National Basketball Association championship in his first year as a coach.

“I don’t think it’s his past year”, Jackson said Friday.

Kerr said he’d have to take “a little bit of a backseat” while his assistants handle more of the work during training camp, adding that he watched lots of film while lying in bed during the offseason.

“Steve was the most efficient player I’ve ever been around”, Kerr said.

“I’ve already learned so much from him”, Thompson said after meeting with children at KIPP Bridge Charter School. He has better preparation, better discipline about preparing himself for the task at hand.

“They’re very similar players”, Kerr said of Nash and Curry. The 32-year-old Gordon has averaged 14.9 points per game for his career and is a 40 percent shooter from 3-point range. However the Warriors guards aren’t the only ones to develop and learn under Nash’s tutelage.

Nash, who played with the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers during his 18-season career, was named to eight All-Star teams.

Last month, the Suns announced they will induct Nash into the team’s Ring of Honor this season. He’s just teaching me how to play with my eyes up, be more of a playmaker.

Drafted 15th overall at the 1996 National Basketball Association Draft, Nash racked up 10,335 assists in his 19 season behind only Hall of Famer John Stockton and Jason Kidd.
