Nigel Harris, president and managing director, Ford India, said: “An outstanding value for money package, the new Figo is cleverly built to appeal to the Indian consumers who don’t want to compromise on looks, practicality, safety, cutting-edge technology and above all, exceptional fuel efficiency”.

The previous generation Figo was launched way back in 2010 and created quite a stir mainly because of its spacious cabin and a responsive diesel engine.

Ford India, after the launch of Ford Figo Aspire sedan, have launched their representative in the hatchback segment. Upfront, Ford’s signature bold trapezoidal grille and elongated headlamps grab attention while a well-proportioned tailgate and an accentuated character line running through to the tail lamp cluster enhance overall width. But the talking point really is the 1.5-Litre diesel with a very potent power output of 100PS and 215Nm of mind twisting torque.

There are five Ford Figo petrol variants, and 6 for the diesel. It makes 90PS and 204Nm and according to ARAI test results for fuel mileage, it gets 25.83 kmpl. The 1.2-Litre petrol produces 88PS of power and comes mated to the now familiar 5-speed manual ‘IB5′ gearbox. The Figo will also come with a six-speed powershift automatic transmission paired with a 1.5 Ti-VCT petrol delivering a mileage of 17kpl. In fact, the top-end trim will get 6 airbags, segment first. SYNC with Ford AppLink allows drivers to control their phone, entertainment and apps hands-free using simple voice commands. It also comes with electrically adjustable ORVMs and a flat folding rear seat. The higher variants though get more equipment including steering mounted controls, parking sensors, USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity.

The new Ford Figo hatchback will face competition from Hyundai Grand i10, Wagon R, Tata Bolt and Maruti Suzuki Swift and Ritz. The all-new Figo features a dynamic design and sleek styling that sets it apart from other hatchbacks.
