Sam Smith Releases James Bond ‘Spectre’ Theme, ‘Writing’s On the Wall’ (AUDIO)

For you, I have to risk it all. But the orchestral “Wall” sounds too vulnerable, as if Bond is now one of the characters in SNL’s Adele sketch. “I was never a proper Bond fan until I started watching the Daniel Craig movies”. You couldn’t sway to this with any discernible rhythm, let alone shoot bad guys in style.

Smith also expressed his gratitude for getting the opportunity to record the song and for the support of his fans. He was clearly thrilled that he had this wonderful opportunity.

According to the BBC, Smith describes “Writing’s On the Wall” as a “classic Bond song” featuring a full orchestra and powerful vocals.

Smith initially denied he was the voice behind the new 007 song, but later confirmed on Instagram he was honored to join the iconic British legacy.

Earlier today Sam said the song only took him days to write because he wasn’t anxious about it, telling Nick Grimshaw: “I haven’t really felt pressure at all with Bond until the last few days actually because I’m just so nervous about what people are going to think about it”. Since then, however, superstars ranging from Madonna to Adele have written and performed the numbers – which have become worldwide hits independent of the films.

Meanwhile, William Hill are now offering odds of 4/6 for Smith to hit number 1 with the track, which would make it the first James Bond theme to reach the spot in 53 years.

After Writing’s On The Wall’s debut, Sam tweeted, “I have been dreaming of this moment for a long long time…”
