Wisconsin Gov. Walker ends presidential campaign, urges other candidates to follow

Walker included: “I support other Republican presidential contender to do likewise with the goal that voters can concentrate on the predetermined number of applicants who can offer a positive, moderate different option for the present leader”.

“I was just watching with increasing alarm and dismay”, she said. “I’m flat-out saying it. Candidates can say that”. “It’s unfortunate”.

He rocketed to the front of the GOP pack in Iowa after a rousing speech at the Iowa Freedom Summit in January – and subsequently, his campaign pinned its hopes on the first state to vote in the presidential nominating process. “I am surprised he got out, frankly”.

Walker, 47, tried to appeal to religious conservatives, tea party conservatives and the more traditional GOP base.

That’s selfless Scott Walker, “leading” by dropping out, sacrificing his half-percent of support and offering to throw it to another candidate just to save his party. But the 47-year-old governor quickly struggled on the campaign trail despite a strong conservative record and a warm personal story as a Harley motorcycle aficionado.

Wisconsin is fortunate to have Governor Walker for four full years”, Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said in a statement.

Walker’s fall was dramatic and swift. He was unable to adjust to Trump’s rise and repeatedly had trouble clearly stating his position on several issues. “You have the hourglass of sand and at the end of the day, there’s only one seat”. Minnesota media executive and Walker donor Stanley Hubbard is also waiting to pick a second favorite. “He’s a good man and would have been a good president“.

Of course, since Walker only “indefinitely suspended” his campaign, it’s not impossible to imagine that if Trump can be eliminated, he’d be willing to step into the void and reenter the race as that “conservative alternative”.

Walker’s approval rating has plummeted, falling to almost zero in a CNN poll published Sunday. “I’ve always been impressed with his character, his intelligence and his knowledge of how it all works”, he said.
