Xbox’s Phil Spencer decries “incredibly unhealthy” console wars
Spencer has made a habit of congratulation performances from Sony or Nintendo and he believes that this trend needs to continue, as it’s not his job to detract from the accomplishments of others. He also reveals (not so surprisingly) that the Xbox team is looking to make a big entertainment moment with their marketing of Halo 5, the same way they have done with the releases for Halo 2, 3 and. He added: “I’m going to actively push against that”. “The planning and process teams have gone through has been great, and I’m confident in how it will launch based on the results that we’re seeing”.

Microsoft is willing to do deals such as the Rise of the Tomb Raider one, along with deals on the lines of Fallout 4 mods coming to Xbox One first and EA Access being an exclusive service. In an interview with GameSpot, Spencer explained that he finds the debates counteractive to the industry, and would like to see them subside. Spencer actually sees the value of competition, of recognizing that hard work, and he knows something that I fear far too many people lose sight of: he doesn’t need to make other people look bad to try to make himself look good. But still for some diehard fans of the series that grew up playing split screen Halo on the couch with their friends, it is a loss and potential detriment.
At the end of the day, we view this as a good move by Microsoft.
A very familiar and aloof face in the gaming world is Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer. That’s 100% of what I’m focused on.
While Crackdown 3 and Quantum Break won’t be on the PC, because it was too late in those games’ development cycles to make them compatible with Windows 10, it appears that the company will be doing it more often moving forward. That’s just a fantastic part of the industry that we’re in, and I fully embrace that. We know that’s the vast majority of the co-op play.
When speaking about AR and HoloLens, Spencer clarifies that the E3 demos of “Halo Lens” and Minecraft were just demos. The opportunity might present itself in the future, but he said, “If it’s meant to be, it will happen”.

He continued, noting that VR might be better for specific types of videogames: “I think there will be certain experiences where that’s ideal”.
