Sting Suffers Career-Threatening Injury at WWE Night of Champions

On the second occasion, the challenger raked Ryback’s eyes and rolled him up for a pin, clinching his first title in WWE. And that reason is nearly always money. Newly crowned Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens makes his way out for commentary.

What We Disliked: Jericho being the mystery partner was bit of a letdown, albeit one that ended up making a little sense by match’s end.

And now, she will be tasked with championing the change that will allow the Divas Revolution to evolve past a buzzy, trendy label slapped on by WWE Creative and become a legitimate movement within the company.

This entire segment was held back by to fundamental mistakes that the WWE creative team have been making repeatedly over the last few years. Roman’s mic skills have improved, and I was surprised to see him come out alone. Cena won cleanly, but after the show, Kane (Corporate Kane that is) showed up on the screen to tell Rollins that there were plenty of guys lining up for a title shot, including some from his worst nightmares.

Cena is clearly WWE’s preference for champion. What’s more, it could be life threatening. Bray says he tried to warn Roman Reigns, but they didn’t hit him hard enough.

So how does that all tie in with Cena? Shining the spotlight on The Ascension’s brutality and Stardust cunning would help propel the trio to another level, and make the inevitable demise in the future much more special. Even the masked gimmick was wearing thin with fans. If they could market Seth and Neville as faces to the superhero degree they have Cena it would open up new possibilities, and frankly new financial opportunity for the business.

Before this turns into a WWE ripfest, let me start out by saying there was a lot on this show I actually enjoyed. But if one can counter that reasoning, then its null and void.

But there were big-picture storyline booking problems that made me, and I’m sure plenty of other people, shake our heads.

Of course, Rollins ran right to The Authority. This was a really long match (frankly about twice as long as it needed to be) with a dumb finish that saw Summer Rae chuck a shoe (yes, a shoe) at Rusev accidentally (or maybe not, who knows?), causing Ziggler to get a quick win via Zig Zag. The bellas would be a great addition too.

Raw goes off the air with Kane standing tall over the fallen bodies of Rollins and Cena, having decimated both champions. Why Sting was wrestling for a championship is beyond me.

It feels like a broken record at times, but with certain things, WWE just seems to out of touch with 2015. HHH is on the cusp of something huge with NXT.
