The kickoff of Kanye West’s rare two-night set of 808s & Heartbreak shows at California’s Hollywood Bowl may not have gone quite as smoothly as planned.
But the visual spectacle that Kanye West fans have come to expect from the rapper was hampered by technical difficulties. According to TMZ, Kanye – who addressed the situation by saying “This is the best dress rehearsal I’ve ever had” – was allegedly late for the actual rehearsal the night before. According to TMZ, West struggled with the timing of the music and at one point had to ask for it to be shut off.
“This is the best dress rehearsal I’ve ever had”, the ‘All Day” rapper said wryly. Wife Kim Kardashian and daughter North West were there, and so were his in-laws Kourtney Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian and Kendall Jenner, who shared some cute pics from backstage. Additionally, Kanye was joined by several of the album collaborators, specifically Kid Cudi, Young Jeezy, and Mr. Hudson, as well as a string orchestra and eight-person choir. There was also a moving tribute to the star’s late mother, Donda.
