Singer Chris Brown might have to cancel his upcoming concerts in Australia because of his past conviction for domestic violence. The publication writes that a government minister in Australia has recommended that Brown not be granted a work visa to perform in the country based on what officials are calling “character grounds”.

The decision also comes just one day before tickets for the Australia leg of Brown’s tour go on sale.
She added: ‘I am clearly not going to pre-empt a decision by the Minister, however, I can assure you what my strong recommendation would be.
“I can assure you that the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection will be looking at this very, very seriously”.
Cash, who was assistant immigration minister until her elevation to the front bench this week, previously denied boxer Floyd Mayweather entry to Australia over his history of domestic violence.
“This is a Government that’s not afraid to say “no”.
Cash was speaking alongside new Prime Minister of Australia Malcolm Turnbull during a news conference, during which they announced a new set of counter measures that could help tackle the problem of domestic violence in the country.
When contacted last week, a spokeswoman for his Australian promoter said Chris should have no issues entering Australia, as he has been there twice since the assault charges – in 2011 and 2012.
He’s expected to visit Perth on December 9 before making stops in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane on December 12, 14 and 16.
Brown was found charged with the assault of his popstar girlfriend Robyn Rihanna Fenty in 2009. He was sentenced to five years’ probation, a year-long domestic violence program and 180 days of community labour.

On Thursday the newly appointed women’s minister, Michaelia Cash, indicated that Brown would not be let in.
