Pansare murder:Centre vows action against culprits

Hitting out at Congress for demanding a ban on the right wing outfit, the Sena said after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declassified the files related to Subhash Chandra Bose, “it has now been proved that the Congress played an instrumental role in not revealing the cause of his death” and sought to know if the party should be banned for this.

In response, the Sanatan Sanstha’s managing trustee Virendra Marathe dismissed the notion, telling PTI that it was probably a “stunt to get sympathy”. We have ignored him.

Rajappa along with officials of the Maharashtra Special Investigation Team (SIT) interrogated activist Samir Gaikwad in Kolhapur. People like Bhalchandra Nemade, who is one among the few Jyanpeeth awardees of the state, need to be protected by the police. The Sanstha considered Dabholkar and Pansare as “unrighteous individuals who ridicule Dharma, deities…”, clearly identifying them as enemies of the faith.

“In 2014, the Home Ministry concluded that there is no material with him This proposal to ban Sanatan Sanstha was given to PK Pillai at that time Chidambaram had no material to show that this organization has committed this”, Singh said.

“You can not blame the whole organisation because one of its members is suspected to be involved in a murder case”, Parsekar said while talking to media today. “We also suspect Rudra as a prime accused in the Pansare murder case and have launched a manhunt to nab him”, a police officer said on condition of anonymity.

What sort of brushes with the law? The name of the right-wing organisation had cropped up after blasts at Thane and Vashi in Maharashtra in 2008 and recovery of explosive material in Panvel.

The Maharashtra SIT is also looking out for two more Sanatan Sadhak, Rudra Patil and Sarang Akolkar alias Kulkarni, who are absconding since 2009, when the horrifying incident of bomb blasts had taken place in Margao (Goa).

While the Sanstha was not indicted in the conspiracy, six people – Vinay Talekar, Vinayak Patil, Dhananjay Ashtekar, Dilip Mangaokar, Prashant Juvekar and Jay Prakash, all of them members of the same organisation – were acquitted by a trial court in 2013.

Here, it is the Sanatan Sanstha allegedly threatening to murder its critics and questioners; elsewhere, a scholar like Kalburgi is shot dead, a Muslim scholar is stopped from writing columns on the Ramayana, Nobel victor Dr Amartya Sen is vilified, Dalits and Muslims are denied their beef, the Vice President of India is mocked and taunted for his religion, a Bharat Ratna is demanded for Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and so on. The Sanstha is known to have resorted to such acts in the past as well, the official added.

“The last document we sent to the MHA (Union home ministry) was a 1,000-page dossier…in May 2014”, Chavan said.
