The Broncos went into the break 20-12 up after lanky winger Corey Oates dived over in the corner.

Hodges, 33, was on Sunday cited by the NRL match review committee for his 57th-minute tackle on Sydney Roosters second-rower Aidan Guerra in Friday’s preliminary final win.

Broncos coach Wayne Bennett – now in sight of his seventh title for Brisbane and eighth overall – wasn’t losing any sleep.

“It’s disappointing… but we’ve got a good group of guys here and we’ll be holding our heads up high”.

The Origin veteran is also battling a back injury aggravated against the Roosters.

Robinson admitted it “hurts” that the Roosters only have one grand final berth (2013) to show for their last three straight minor premierships.

The NRL judiciary is set to play the villain to the hopes of a fairytale finish to Broncos captain Justin Hodges career.

It was easy to see why these two sides finished the regular season on top of the premiership ladder after their clash at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

“You’ve got to think that when he sits in front of the people (on the judiciary panel) and pleads his case and they go through it, it might be enough”.

The Broncos have a formidable grand final record, having won all six deciders they have contested.

Kenny-Dowall threw a long pass from the touchline towards fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck but, to his horror, it was Broncos fullback Darius Boyd who snared an intercept to send Suncorp Stadium into raptures.
