After meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the Pacific Northwest earlier in the week, Zuckerberg hosted India Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a town hall.
His speeches were directed to the U.N.’s sustainable development conference and private sector forum during its 70th annual General Assembly.
The Facebook founder, who said internet access is “an enabler of human rights”, says connecting the refuges is not all altruism.
Facebook acknowledged in 2014, a program that it had set up to invent new technology capable of providing affordable Internet access for all.
In the post, Zuckerberg also announced a call to action that he was supporting alongside socially conscious groups and figures such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the ONE campaign and Bono.
Facebook’s efforts to connect the world with Internet continues to move into high gear.
A declaration signed by Zuckerberg, Gates and others for the global campaign states that Internet access is essential for achieving humanity’s global goals. “We’re working on it d we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can” message.
Calling for goals to confirm Internet availability for every individual continually by 2020, Zuckerberg said Internet connectivities certainly are a compelling solution for revealing information, making prospects, raising cities from lower income and merchandising silence. United Nations officials estimate half the world does not have reliable access, especially women and girls, whose education and health is crucial to anti-poverty efforts.
“Connectivity will help refugees better access support from the aid community and maintain their links to families”, he said.
