Crowd noise from Manchester United v Ipswich Town could disrupt Coronation

Soap fans witnessed bad boy Callum, played by Sean Ward, killed off in the first 15 minutes by his former girlfriend Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) in what he described as a “Game of Thrones-style” death.

The Platts have been the centre of dramatic scenes building up to last night’s live show, with Callum making their lives hell in a bid to win custody of his son Max, then demanding £20,000 in cash.

Even EastEnders actor Adam Woodyatt was impressed, admitting he’d been hoping for a “How’s Adam” moment – a reference to his own soap’s live show past year when a co-star called his character Ian Beale by his real name.

ITV is celebrating the channel’s 60th anniversary by running a live episode of the soap at 7.30pm at Trafford Wharf studios, which is under a mile away from United’s home turf.

Fans of Corrie last night saw drug dealer Callum Logan (Sean Ward) murdered by Kylie Platt, with David, Sarah and Bethany helping with the hiding of the body.

ITV will be broadcasting a live Coronation Street episode tomorrow (23 September) but with an added twist, interactivity is expected to be at an unprecedented level.

The League Cup tie was drawn out of the bag at the tail end of August, with the live episode announced a week or so afterwards.

There’ll also be a big shock in store for Tim Metcalfe when he finds out about his fiancée Sally Webster’s secret kiss with her ex Kevin.

“Everyone is working so so hard on this”, she said.

“Alongside the 24 second clip they posted: “A very special “GOOD LUCK!” to @ITVCorrie from everyone at #EastEnders headquarters!”

At 10pm on ITV2, Stephen Mulhern will lead Coronation Street Live: Uncovered, featuring interviews with the cast immediately after the broadcast, and the actors answering questions posed on Twitter.

Director John Anderson said all aspects of the episode were carefully thought out and rehearsed to ensure a faultless performance. Viewers can simultaneously watch the Access All Areas stream and the actual episode, seeing how it all fits together.

It comes after the announcement that Coronation Street’s current producer, Stuart Blackburn, will leave the role to work on other drama projects within ITV.

Kylie is also struggling as she says: “I feel like my head is going to explode”.
