By Andy MaltVladimir Putin has called up Elton John on the telephone to organise a meeting.

“At the beginning, Yakovenko had certain problems explaining to the musician that he was really the Russian ambassador and that the real president of Russia wanted to talk to him”.

On Monday, Putin will address the General Assembly in New York to outline his plan for Syria, notably the idea of expanding a coalition, which would include Assad’s army, to fight Islamic State.

In moves that echo its buildup in Crimea, Moscow is adding to its military presence in Syria, where it has shipped in fighter jets, armoured personnel carriers and attack helicopters. Kerry made the statement after United States and Russian defence chiefs had agreed on several issues to avoid “accidental interactions”.

US Secretary of State John Kerry, left, meets with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif at United Nations headquarters Saturday, September 26, 2015. “I look forward to meeting with you face-to-face to discuss LGBT equality in Russian Federation“.

“On a course like that, it is possible that we could find areas of cooperation”, Carter said.

But working with Russian Federation won’t be easy, since the USA has been isolating Russian Federation over their actions in Ukraine and accepting former security analyst Edward Snowden who leaked thousands of National Security Agency intelligence files.

Mr Putin chose to contact John as a gesture of sympathy after the incident, said Mr Peskov. Its primary concern has been the potential transfer of advanced weaponry to the Shiite Hezbollah militant group in Lebanon and Israel has occasionally carried out airstrikes against suspected weapons shipments.Russia’s activity comes as Assad has suffered a series of civil war setbacks in recent months.

“If they’re siding with Assad, it’s not so that they can kill IS, it’s so they can fight against the anti-regime forces”, Hodges said.
