Watch The Walk’s new extended trailer

Starting Wednesday, 9/30 experience the triumphant true story of The Walk in IMAX -and 3D.

It makes sense that director Robert Zemeckis wants to save most of the actual walk for the movie, but those watching this trailer to see new belly-tickling sights will be disappointed. So the studio has just issued a almost five-minute IMAX trailer to convince you that those pesky surcharges will be totally worth it. It basically looks like your standard-issue biopic about an obsessive artist with big dreams and a supportive girlfriend, plus some heist elements thrown in for good measure. Additionally, the New York Film Festival has announced that the movie will be their opening night feature, putting it in the history books alongside Gone Girl, Captain Phillips, and Life of Pi.

In a recent interview with the Guardian, Gordon-Levitt compared Petit to notorious NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden: “Both of them are incredibly driven towards something they believe in”. “Guided by his real-life mentor, Papa Rudy, and aided by an unlikely band of global recruits, Petit and his gang overcome long odds, betrayals, dissension and countless close calls to conceive and execute their mad plan”.
