The S600 sold out within two weeks of the announcement of the launch date announcement, the company said in a statement. Mercedes-Benz claims that for the rear passengers, the Maybach is the quietest vehicle in the world. Eberhard Kern, managing director and chief executive of Mercedes Benz India told ET that the company endeavours to continuously offer nothing but the best to its customers and with Maybach it is taking luxury to the next level.

Mercedes has re-introduced its Maybach premium luxury brand in India with two models, the Mercedes-Maybach S500 and the Mercedes-Maybach S600 sedans. The locally-assembled Mercedes-Maybach S500 is priced at Rs 1.67 crore.

The Maybach S600 is the 12th model introduced by the company in the domestic market this year and it is slated to roll out three more before the end of December. The vehicle comes features such as air balance package, magic sky control, airmatic suspension, nappa leather upholstery, a 1,540 Burmester 3D surround sound system with 24 speakers and seven-colour ambient lighting among others. The belt-bag is an inflatable seat belt strap that reduces the load on the ribcage in a front impact and is thus able to reduce the risk of injury to passengers in the rear.

“With the start of production of the Mercedes-Maybach we are scripting a new chapter in India today”. The Mercedes-Maybach S 600’s V12 bi-turbo engine generates an output of 530 hp, with a displacement of 5980 cc and a maximum torque of 830 Nm.
