Watch John Boehner Totally Lose It In Front Of Pope Francis

Pope Francis, after addressing the U.S. Congress Thursday, traveled to St. Patrick’s Church to meet with Catholic Charities workers and to bless the lunch served to the homeless.

The only reason any of our elected officials in Washington, D.C. – or, for that matter, any true American citizen – could be upset about Pope Francis’ address to Congress is if they have a guilty conscience.

Francis, who’s become one of the most politically active religious leaders in recent memory, received a standing ovation right out of the gate for a nod to America’s national anthem. Boehner could also be seen weeping as he stood on the Speaker’s Balcony as the pope waved and addressed the thousands of people gathered outside.

Junior Shannon Turco said students often hear a more rational side of the death penalty debate. “I can not hide my concern for the family, which is threatened, perhaps as never before, from within and without”, the pope told the crowd of legislators, Supreme Court justices and multiple presidential candidates.

I am convinced this is the best way, because life is sacred, each human person is endowed with inalienable dignity, he added.

In his 50-minute address, Francis asserted that the “Golden Rule reminds us of our responsibility to protect and defend human life at every stage of its development”.

Speaking to a rare joint session, the Pope said immigrants should be treated “with the same passion and compassion with which we want to be treated”.

Pope is the first leader of the Roman Catholic Church to address a joint meeting of Congress including more than 500 lawmakers Supreme Court justices and top administration officials
