‘Heroes: Reborn’ starts with so-so numbers; ‘Grey’s Anatomy
When we first heard the phrase “save the cheerleader, save the world” we were immediately transfixed with how saving one girl could possibly save the world.

Fans of the original “Heroes” series already know that ‘Heroes Reborn’ is more of a reboot than a re-launching. In the short time that followed, those with abilities were celebrated, but that was short-lived.
What would be more useful and what could save Heroes Reborn from a presumed fate, is to get back to a more conventional form of storytelling.
Levi’s Collins is one of those malevolent forces. It looks like the capped heroes are going to return and help save the Evos. It’s a far cry from the happy-go-lucky lead character from “Chuck”. That’s the beauty of this kind of series, and part of what allowed Heroes to become popular following the success of Lost. Its a sequel to the 2006 Heroes television series that garnered substantial acclaim and recognition during its first season before nose diving in popularity until finally cancelled after season four. If you watched the first time, you’ll see that the story is unique but the way we’re telling it will feel familiar and, I hope, comfortable in a way. Several fan-favourite characters from the original Heroes will make appearances, including Hiro (Masi Oka), Matt (Greg Grunberg), Mohinder (Sendhil Ramamurthy) and Noah (Jack Coleman). And the central idea of humans and “evos” (what the show calls superheroes) being on the brink of perpetual war assumed we would be instantly drawn to the show’s large number of new characters.
NBC has promised that you don’t have to be a fan of the original series to enjoy the new series, so I jumped right in…and promptly got confused.
Miko explores the animated world looking for her missing father, and is accomponied by Toru who joins in from his computer. I never saw myself as pigeon-holed, and I certainly was never a sci-fi writer. That said, aside from a few scenes with some of the old characters it seems friendly enough to newcomers bring them in without confusing them too much, so it at least does the job in that respect. Was it the world or the character that drew you?
Joanne and her husband, Luke (Zachary Levi), are out for blood. “I don’t want to rob people from the experience of the many revelations that happen along the way”.
I think I was one of the first, if not the first. “I’ve thought about this for most my adult – no, no. Just most of my life in general, not just my adult life”. At the end of the series, HRG’s daughter Claire told the world about the powered humans or “evos”. This character has absolutely no dialogue and he only has around a minute of screen time, but it was the most captivating of any of the proceedings, which is really saying something for the quality of the series overall. Luke is the villain that you are hoping turns good at some point. A semi-reluctant killer, but a killer nonetheless. Unsurprisingly this was met with mixed results and while the rest of humanity tried to adjust, things changed thanks to a terror incident called “July 13th” that involved the destruction of Primatech headquarters with a character from the original named Mohnider Suresh claiming responsibility for the incident. He and his wife go through a really gnarly thing when they lose their son in what at the time was considered a terrorist attack blamed on evos and it just knocks them off the rails. It’s dark, and to sit in this role now for nearly six months, it takes its toll on you.
Somebody on Twitter suggested something super awesome: Pizzakinesis. And if I have a choice, I don’t think I will. I do still like teleportation.
I should not have anxious. His emotional goal is unclear, which leaves him feeling a little adrift.

I really don’t have any sympathy for Luke and Joanne. We had some security in quite a few times… I think they knew what they were embarking on. A lot of people know who the X-Men are. But if Quentin is right and this conspiracy is setting up a cataclysmic event in the future, there’s one problem: The people with the ability to save the world are now mostly living in hiding – and for good reason. It took us too long to find out how Sylar’s power worked, and how Peter’s did, and so to have a character with a pretty powerful power that explained it all in the premiere was so refreshing. I don’t want to deal with that.
