Warren Hills coach Larry Dubiel was left stunned by the tragedy.

He said counselors would be available at Warren County High School starting 9 a.m. Saturday.

Evan Murray’s death was confirmed in a statement by Gary R. Bowen, the interim superintendent of Warren Hills Regional Schools District. He told the news site that officials were still trying to make sense of what happened. “He was the person you looked up to and wanted to be”, Bell said.

“Evan was an awesome athlete, friend, family member, student”, Coughlin said.

The center reported five direct fatalities on the scholastic gridiron last season, during which about 1.1 million high school players competed, according to National Federation of State High School Association data. He also played baseball and basketball. “Varsity QB since his sophomore year, varsity baseball pitcher, and varsity basketball Evan was always doing something to give back to his community”, the GoFundMe tribute said.
