Bears rule Jay Cutler, Alshon Jeffery out vs. Seahawks

Cutler, who suffered a hamstring strain in the first half of last week’s loss to the Cardinals, will miss his 14th game due to injury since joining the Bears in 2009.

That means Jimmy Clausen will start at quarterback in Seattle, one of the toughest places for a visiting quarterback to play.

-WR Alshon Jeffery missed Wednesday’s practice with the hamstring injury that kept him out of last week’s game against Arizona. This week, they are without both Jay Cutler and Alshon Jeffery and traveling to a hostile environment against an angry opponent. Also started 2011 season 0-2 after consecutive road losses at San Francisco and Pittsburgh, finished season 7-9…. Last week, Clausen’s 56.6 passer rating in relief of Cutler inspired little confidence, but Fox expects better play in a starting role.

Bears head coach John Fox confirmed Cutler’s injury Monday but did not give a specific timetable for his return, ESPN reported. I think I’ll be okay.

You know this because you have two eyes and/or working ears and have subjected those eyes and/or ears to the past two games. Rather astonishingly, the Seahawks, Eagles, Saints, Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravens are all included in the list of teams yet to record a win.

“I think the worst thing you can do is panic and start changing schemes left and right looking for a magic potion”.

Jimmy Clausen will start if Cutler is unable to go against the Seahawks. “I thought the whole football team was very focused this week as they well should be going to play a team [like the Seahawks] in a venue like Seattle”. We really need to win those matchups.

McCarthy said that NFL Films will be allowed to use drones and teams may film their own practices if they comply with local, state and federal guidelines.

There are a lot of things up for grabs for both teams heading into this battle.

“This is the first full week he’s gotten reps since I’ve been here”, Fox said.

BRING SOME PRESSURE: The Bears have struggled to get off the field on third downs, allowing 58 percent conversions.

Palmer’s performance Sunday night was crucial to the Packers, as he made three solo tackles and assisted on a tackle, giving the Packers a victory over the defending NFC champion Seattle Seahawks, 27-17.

“He affects everything”, Gase said, via the Chicago Tribune. It is possible the Bears might even put Bennett’s brother, Martellus, on that side of the formation to help in different situations. The offensive line hasn’t been able to open up running lanes for Marshawn Lynch through two games, and if that doesn’t get better, the best way to soften up defenses might be with Wilson’s legs similar to the Green Bay game. But there should be opportunities for the Seahawks in the passing game Sunday. If only there was someone to get him the ball. “We’re not going to sit here and act like we don’t have work to do”.
