Wyoming breweries Melvin and Lander win at Great American Beer Festival
Bosque Brewing Company captured the gold medal for its Acequia IPA in the Fresh or Wet Hop Ale category.

Ohio had its strongest ever showing at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver on Saturday, with Buckeye State brewers taking home 10 medals.
-Fitger’s Brewhouse, Duluth, won the silver for its Procrastinator Doppelbock in the German-style doppelbock category. “In the last four years Brick has invested over $15 million in our operations, to allow us to be more competitive, to serve our customers, and to grow our business here at home in Ontario”, said Croft.
– Rhinegeist Brewery in Cincinnati: Silver for Sherry Ink in the wood and barrel aged strong stout category.
-Fulton Brewery, Minneapolis, won bronze for its Lonely Blonde in the English-style summer ale category.
Iron Hill won two medals at this year’s GABF, and eight other regional breweries came away with prizes.

Some of the larger craft breweries that are building or have built second breweries are Sierra Nevada, with its new location in Mills River, North Carolina, and Stone Brewing Company, opening new breweries in Berlin, Germany, and also Richmond, Virginia.
– Lager Heads Brewing Co. in Medina: Bronze for Smokie Robbins in the smoke beer category. It’s Elevator’s first medal at the event since 2007 when it won for Dark Horse, now known as Dark Force.

It’s not easy to win at the competition.
Ontario’s largest Canadian-owned brewery, Brick Brewing, on Thursday welcomed changes to beer retailing in the province which will see beer brought into the grocery channel, increased shelf space for small craft brewers, improved governance at the Beer Store, and an overall reduction in costs for small brewers.
