The Melbourne Police Department have arrested one of the woman who were photographed riding a sea turtle in July.
Posting an image of Moore riding the turtle on its Facebook page earlier today, the Melbourne Police Department said the 20-year-old has been arrested after officers responded to a “disturbance”.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission opened a criminal investigation of the pair soon after the Facebook photos appeared.
During their investigation, officers discovered Moore’s active warrant in reference to failing to comply with a FWC rule. Moore was arrested on an active felony warrant for molesting a marine turtle.
Stephanie Moore, 20, was identified as one of the women seen taking photographs on the sea turtles in July. “KARMA!!! wins again!!” “Hooray!”
Animal cruelty is met with heavy penalties in Florida.
The second woman has been recognized by authorities however has not been arrested, stated David Hochberg, chairman of the board of the Florida-based mostly nonprofit Sea Turtle Preservation Society.
