In a game many are predicting as a “get right game” for the Denver Broncos, we go around the horn with our staff to give our predictions to the week 3 matchup versus the Detroit Lions. Plugging the void left by tackle Ndamukong Suh has been a huge issue for the Lions, who are yielding 147.5 yards on the ground after leading the league (69.3) last season.
“I don’t think there’s any question about how tough he is”, Lions coach Jim Caldwell said. I know I can play better.

The Lions head to Seattle next Monday night with the prospect of falling even further behind in the early going. The defense came up with the big touchdown that won the game against the Chiefs last week, and suffocated the Ravens the week before. “Once they rule on it, that’s the way it goes”.

The Lions have some pretty glaring protection breakdowns, and they were made more obvious by a Broncos defensive full of pass-rush threats. At that point they were down 17-12. The Broncos switched to the pistol formation for large stretches of the game, and it paid off for Manning and the passing attack. “Another great play the guy tipped it to himself about four times. I wish I could have thrown it higher”. The running game could be a bigger part of the Patriots’ plan this week, so Blount is worth a flier. And rookie Ameer Abdullah, for all his promise, only got six carries last week against Minnesota, producing just nine yards. Certainly Joique Bell is no better than a back up RB.
