Wi-Fi Assist might assist in chewing through your mobile data
Essentially this comes into play when you’re connected to Wi-Fi but the signal is pretty awful – something we’ve all experienced. Many users over on Twitter have been reporting that their data usage has escalated from the usual 1 GB a month to 3 GB and in some cases, even as much as 7 GB.

Right beneath your apps list, you will see the new Wi-Fi Assist that we talked about.
That’s it! Now feel free to download to your hearts content on slow Wi-Fi without the fear of your mobile data kicking in.
But the good news is that Wi-Fi Assist can be easily switched off. Users of the new iOS 9 update can simply go to Settings then ‘Mobile.’ Then scroll all the way to the bottom, and switch off Wi-Fi Assist.
This is clearly a great idea if you’ve got an unlimited data package, but those that don’t could suffer some nasty bill shock. When your wireless internet connection is poor, your iPhone will compensate by switching back and forth between cellular and WiFi, improving the experience of using the internet. Directly beneath that is Wi-Fi, but oddly, that’s not where you’ll find Wi-Fi Assist. You’ll also see that you can activate or deactivate the ability for all your apps to use mobile data.
The feature can be turned off by selecting “mobile data” in the settings application and opting not to use Wi-Fi Assist.
However, if you have a router that can’t cover all the rooms in your house or has signal problems, after you’ve updated your iOS device to iOS 9, you might have also received a huge bill at the end of month.
