Brentford’s 2-1 loss last weekend was their fourth loss from their eight Championship games this season and owner Matthew Benham has decided to make a change, promoting Lee Carsley from his role with the Development Squad.

The Dutchman was installed at Griffin Park over the summer as the club attempted to initiate a moneyball style approach to football, but with with the Bees now in 19th place they have opted to change their head coach.
Dijkhuizen has admitted that he is shocked by the club’s decision to dismiss him, but he has said that he enjoyed his time at Griffin Park.
LONDON, Sept 28 Marinus Dijkhuizen, head coach of Championship (second tier) team Brentford has been sacked only eight games into the new season, the London club announced on Monday.
After eight league matches, they sit just above the relegation zone.
Dijkhuizen has been left to ponder a spell in charge of the Bees which he feels was too short and he has spoken of his shock at his departure, hinting it came as a bolt from the blue.
Dijkhuizen’s assistant Roy Hendriksen has also left the club, while Carsley has been promoted from Under-21 boss and will be assisted by Paul Williams. His work at the training ground has been hugely impressive whilst coaching the development squad and has demonstrated he understands the club’s philosophy and the ambitions of Brentford FC.

Carsley is a former Everton and Coventry player and represented the Republic of Ireland at full internationally level.
