Kane prosecutor solves “bag” mystery

It turns out, the bag wasn’t an evidence bag, but rather an envelope typically used by a hospital. “But we will study the law”.

“This does not in any way reflect upon what occurred on the night in question”, he said. On Wednesday Eoannou had called for an independent investigation by the FBI into the breach of evidence, but on Thursday he said he doubted the account of the discovery of the bag that had been relayed to him by the accuser. “It contains the location where the rape kit was done”, attorney Thomas Eoannou told reporters.

Sedita was also emphatic that the bag in question never contained the rape kit and that the forensic evidence in this case has not been tampered with or compromised.

Sedita emphasized that he would only address allegations of evidence tampering, not the case against Kane – who he did not mention by name. She had a lawyer present but was not under oath. “She’s a part-time employee and we agreed that she would stay home today”, Rosen said Friday. “It is not a crime in the state of New York to make fraudulent accusations to a private person”, Sedita said. “The rape kit was never in any kind of bag”.

He said the rape kit was opened at 9:30 a.m. on August 2 by the sexual assault nurse examiner. “I think the investigation is forever tainted”.

The mother will not be charged, because, as Sedita said repeatedly, there is no law against what she is accused of doing.

An investigation to determine the extent of the alleged victim’s involvement in the hoax will take place, Sedita said. “We haven’t gotten that far yet”.

“This evidence bag has been ripped open,”Eoannou said at the time”. Cambria suggested the evidence bag allegation was meant to undermine the DNA findings. “In keeping with my ethical obligations as an officer of the court, I can no longer represent my client affectively and am withdrawing effective immediately”.

For now, it appears that the primary focus is no longer on whether or not Kane sexually assaulted a woman at his summer home just outside of Buffalo, but rather whether the complainant played a part in staging a hoax to mislead investigators.

Lawyers and legal experts have been quoted as saying they have never experienced such a weird series of events happening during what is usually a well-established follow-up routine of alleged sexual assault.

And a big sigh of relief from the Blackhawks, the National Hockey League and Patrick Kane, who keeps learning lessons the hard way and — maybe, one of these days — will figure out the hazards of life in the fishbowl, and act accordingly.

Cambria held his own news conference later Thursday night and reiterated he believes that Kane is being victimized. They said they believe the numbers are similar enough to lend credence to their insistence that this was not a hoax. The woman had changed her top before going to the hospital.
