Arsenal fans tear down Tottenham signs during Capital One Cup game

Arsenal defeated fierce local rivals Tottenham in the third round of the F.A Cup on Wednesday night thanks to a brace from an unlikely source in midfielder Mathieu Flamini.

An Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain shot was parried away by Spurs keeper Michel Vorm, but Flamini was able to convert on the rebound for the goal.

However, the hosts equalised early in the second half when Calum Chambers put the ball into his own net in the 56th minute.

While his two goals were unquestionably the highlight of an impressive display, his all round game was also impressive as he showed a desire to prove his worth to this Arsenal side.

As far as their forwards were concerned for the evening, Olivier Giroud was unconvincing while Theo Walcott only emerged near the end but the general consensus is that if one of those two players got injured, Arsenal would be in a fair spot of bother.

He has not started in the Premier League since last December and last night’s cup clash was his first appearance of the season.

“I think we have got over this thing about the bigger teams and we go into it with a different mentality now”. “Tottenham dropped a little bit around 70 minutes and we found more space when Alexis Sanchez came on”.

“We deserved more. We created more chances, dominated the second half and you know you need to kill the game”, Pochettino, who suffered his first North London derby defeat, told the club’s website.

The match kicks off at 2:45 EST and can be see on BeIN Sports and Sky Sports 1. The addition of Son up front has been an instant hit with three goals in his last two games and has taken some of the pressure off Harry Kane with regard to goalscoring duties, although Kane could really do with a goal for his confidence.

“We played well and were unlucky to come away with nothing. There were a lot of young players and maybe the inexperience cost them against Chelsea”.
