The Dalai Lama is in Minnesota, getting an annual exam at the Mayo Clinic.
A statement released by his staff office deeply regretted having to make the cancelations but it explained it could not be helped due to the Dalai Lama’s present health situations. “And we all know he needed a rest”. With regard to the backlashes he receives, the Dalai Lama, whose name is Tenzin Gyatso, commented feminists often are overwhelmed with too much emotions, which he doesn’t like.
The current Dalai Lama was just a young boy when crowned Dalai Lama back in 1950.
His stop in Philadelphia was supposed to be at the National Constitution Center.
President of the Utah Tibetan Association Lobsang Tsering said his “heart dropped” when he learned of the cancellation. He is a Nobel Peace Prize recipient, for his nonviolent advocacy for the Tibetan people.
The Dalai Lama, an avowed pacifist, says that he recognises China’s rule over Tibet and is seeking greater freedoms.
The Office of Tibet has offered to try and reschedule the visit, but there is not confirmation at this point that the event has been rescheduled. “We have put nearly everything into the event, and we don’t have any way to recover it, except if we get support from all the community members”.
