Fossil offers preview of Q line of wearables

We’ve know about the existence of an Android Wear-powered Fossil watch for sometime now, but details have been scarce. The new wearables will include a connected bracelet, connected watch (with no display), as well as the Android Wear smartwatch.

Smartwatches like the Apple Watch and the Moto 360 will soon have competition from fashion brand Fossil, and we now have a glimpse into what Fossil has planned. It has teamed up with Intel and Google to develop the wrist adornments, just as Tag Heuer has done for its upcoming smartwatch.

Look for the Fossil Q online and in stores this holiday season.

Each connected piece has a companion app and activity tracker that lets you track your daily movement, manage which notifications you want to receive, and join a community of curious-minded individuals.

“With a round face and classic bands, our display watch proves that a connected timepiece can be as fashionable as its integrated software is functional”, the blog post said. As far as compatibly goes, it’s unlikely that the Android Wear watch will work with Windows devices since Google has been notoriously closed-off to Microsoft programs and services.

For enterprises users, the fact that the Fossil Q does not need a particular brand of smartphone to function and that it provides notification management should prove attractive. No word yet on other specs as well as the price range for the Fossil Q Line.
