Last-gen versions of Blacks Ops 3 won’t have a campaign mode
The game’s latest installment, “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3“, is a completely next-gen game that will be released for Sony Corporation’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4, Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One, and Windows PC.

The Weapon Paint Shop and the all-new eSports suite won’t be available for PS3 and Xbox 360, which, for some, should effectively make Call of Duty: Black Ops III for those consoles a “lite” version of what Xbox One, PS4, and PC gamers can expect. Unfortunately, Activision reportedly has rolled out some bad news for the owner of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
The publisher blamed the “ambitious scope of the 1-4 player co-op Campaign” which couldn’t be faithfully recreated on the old consoles. Last generation consoles like the PS3 and Xbox 360 will not get a single-player campaign, according to Activision.
The website says, “Delivering the best possible gameplay experience on all platforms is always our highest priority”. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare demonstrated the consoles’ age throughout much of the campaign, as the game regularly seemed to hit resource limitations and more.
Black Ops 3 players on PS3 and Xbox 360 will also have a chance to immerse themselves in the all-new Zombies mode, called “Shadows of Evil”, which features a 1940’s film-noir inspired adventure that takes the signature Black Ops Zombies gameplay to a new level. The game’s multiplayer mode lets players choose from one of the nine cybernetic soldiers as they are pitted against other combatants from around the globe. The campaign mode would not be available either since it supports both single player and co-operative multiplayer.

While we are not sure of the reason behind the decision, I personally think that because of the fact that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be a fast-paced shooter, Treyarch has finally chose to get rid of campers hiding behind shields in game modes such as Hardpoint and SnD. Do you think this is fair?
