The Arizona State University Sun Devil football program opens the 2015 Pac-12 Conference slate this weekend in its conference home opener against No. 19/18 USC on Saturday, September 26 in Tempe, Arizona.

A week after the USC defense was battered on the ground in a losing effort to Stanford, ASU had similar success early, but inexplicably went away from the run for long stretches. The Trojans are #11 in scoring and #37 in points allowed nationally. Over the last five meetings, both teams have averaged close to 900 yards of offense and 72 points per game. Out of the break, ASU was much more responsive in the third set. While it was nice to see Gary Chambers (5 receptions, 103 yards) emerge late in the game, the Sun Devils could have really used the production earlier in the game as drops and miscommunication marred the performance. In the win, junior linebacker Su’a Cravens tallied a team high six tackles, including two for a loss and notched a forced fumble to his belt.

The Trojans would stay poised however, capitalizing on four first half turnovers by the Sun Devils to take a stranglehold on the game, leading 35-0 at the half. As each year picks up, it gets better and better (at home) so I’m not too anxious about them coming in fired up because we’re going to be fired up as well.
