“We just got a mail from the Prime Minister’s Office, saying that a meeting has been confirmed for October 14 at 5 pm at his residence on the 7, Race Course Road”, Netaji’s grand nephew, Chandra Bose told PTI.

“There are total 401 documents about the cabinet meetings that took place”. The declassification of these files will throw light on the history of pre-independence era.

Mamata will be travelling to Delhi today to handover these cabinet papers and is later scheduled to meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Banerjee also highlighted that the digitisation of files is a step towards Digital India program. We started working on digitising these files in 2013.

Speaking on the move, she said: In this age of internet and social media, we believe in transparency. However, Kolkata Police Commissioner Surajit Kar Purkayastha said all files related to Netaji had been released and nothing was kept on hold. When asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pre-poll promise to declassify Netaji files, she said, “I feel if you’ve said something before elections, you must keep your commitment”.

Mamata agreeing to attend the seminar on September 30 is being seen by many as an attempt on her part to create a ‘third front’ in the country
