Day remained optimistic that a lot can be done with the Metal Gear Solid franchise even without Kojima.

To add more fuel to the fire, the Konami rep promised in an email that they (Konami) are “not leaving Metal Gear behind or anything like that”.

Day then used PlatinumGames’ Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance as an example of the series continuing on without Kojima’s hand. “That was in itself a very, very good game as well, and that was obviously led by a completely different team”. Recently, we’ve heard that Konami is quitting AAA production, before hearing that they weren’t from customer service, and now it is time for another clue in this never ending story has arisen.

And following the release and success of Metal Gear Solid 5, Konami have given a further update on the franchise’s future and what to expect from the company in regards to its gaming output. “All current console projects have been stopped or cancelled by the new management”, the translated report reads.

Day said there mobile games are a part of the future, but there is always a market out there for PC and console gaming.

“Things have been taken out of context but that’s never changed”.

“If it was going to be a remake, I wouldn’t want to make a standard remake, but something similar to what Planet of the Apes is doing: Bringing the best of the past to the present and doing something new”, Kojima said. So people should believe in Konami, and if I was to use a tagline, PES 2016’s tagline is “Love the past, play the future”.
