Karanka dedicates Boro victory to steelworkers
Chris Wood sat out of Leeds United’s 3-0 loss to Middlesbrough.

Rosler was livid that his side were denied a goal in the 56th minute when, with Boro 2-0 ahead, Lewis Cook flicked Gaetano Berardi’s volley to Mirco Antenucci, who finished coolly.
Antenucci steered the ball past goalkeeper Dimi Konstantopoulos and Ledger’s flag stayed down – until he consulted the referee.
An own goal from Giuseppe Bellusci, coupled with strikes either side of the break by David Nugent and substitute Diego Fabbrini secured all three points for the home side. “The ref had a poor game and got two major decisions wrong”, he said. But Neil Swarbrick backed out of dismissing Cristhian Stuani in circumstances where Stuani could not have complained and the disallowed goal was a complete mess.
“The linesman should be 110% sure that our player was offside, obviously he wasn’t”. It was the turning point in the game and he had to be 100 per cent sure it was right.
And while the goal represented Nugent’s only shot of the game, his workrate and effort powered Middlesbrough to a victory which opened up a five-point gap over third-placed Reading.
“He knows my thoughts about him, I like him a lot”, Karanka told BBC Tees. “From now on, we will”.
“I believe he’s a poor defender“.
“If a Leeds player committed the fouls Stuani did on Taylor, he would have gone off today”.
Middlesbrough could send winger Adam Reach out on loan so he can play some first-team football, says head coach Aitor Karanka.
“I think the score is maybe not a good reflection on the game”.
But he was even angrier with Ledger and said: “The linesman told me he had to ask for help from the referee – just imagine that”. But Middlesbrough have generous Leeds to thank for the fifth straight win which strengthens their hold on promotion to the Premier League.
“I have analysed the game, their weaknesses and strengths and now I have to try to beat them”.
“We are playing well, winning ames and we have to keep that going in the same way”.
“It’s going to be hard”.

“We didn’t play our best, but it was another very important three points”.
