Under the multilateral deal, agreed in July, sanctions imposed by the United States, European Union and United Nations will be lifted in return for Iran agreeing to long-term curbs on a nuclear programme that the West has suspected was aimed at creating a nuclear bomb.

VOA Tibetan’s Table Talk invites Bhuchung K. Tsering, Vice President of global Campaign for Tibet, and Tsepa Bayul, Communication Director of Student for a Free Tibet, to discuss the significance of Xi’s visit on Tibet.

The speech is the latest high-profile move for Xi on a trip that has included a White House state visit and will see him chair a United Nations forum on women’s rights on Sunday.

When addressing the welcoming ceremony, Xi said China and the United States “have no choice but to seek win-win cooperation”. “I don’t think the Chinese are noticing the contrast in messages”, said Jorge Guajardo, the former Mexican ambassador to China from 2007 to 2013 who lives in Washington.

Cooperation in the areas of science and education, agriculture, medicine, energy saving and environmental protection has also enjoyed smooth progress, Xi said.

Xi’s state visit to the United States culminated in the capital city of Washington. After his speech, the Chinese president hosted a meeting on South-South co-operation attended by more than a dozen leaders eager to present their wish lists. China is Illinois’ third-largest trade market, with our state exporting more than $6 billion in goods to China a year ago alone.

He urged the worldwide community to increase economic and social cooperation to cope with the traditional and non-traditional challenges in the world.

The pledge nonetheless marks the second day in a row in which China has addressed one of many concerns of Western countries.

The two countries should also consolidate public support for sound bilateral relations by enhancing youth and student exchanges and providing more convenience for travels and visits, suggested Xi.
