Nine days before her death, Jackie Collins had flown from Los Angeles to London to appear on the ITV chat show, “Loose Women“, Daily Mail revealed.

Collins, known for her extravagant persona and quotes like “My weakness is wearing too much leopard print”, was seen as an icon because of the sexual content of books.

As “a prolific writer for over four decades – more than 500 million copies of her novels have been sold around the globe and her latest book, “The Santangelos” hit shelves in June”, People reports.

Her family said she was “a trailblazer for women in fiction and a creative force”.

Her family said that the author will remain in her characters, but they are already missing her a lot.

Collins told The Associated Press in a 2011 interview that she “never felt bashful writing about sex”.

The sister to legendary actress Joan Collins gave what would be her final interview to the magazine earlier this week, where she said she had no regrets about her life. I’ve lived my life, I’ve travelled all over the world. And her tales of life among the rich and famous in Hollywood were often inspired by real-life experiences. She was 77 years old. I don’t know what I’m going to do except write. Her first novel, “The World Is Full of Married Men” published in 1968, was banned in Australia and South Africa. She was admired and adored by many and that she’s really a great loss specially to the family. Hollywood became a favorite setting for her books, in particular Hollywood Wives and its sequels. “I try to make it erotic, too”.

Collins has left three daughters and six grandchildren.

Jackie – the sister of actress Joan Collins – said: “Death is peaceful and maybe you come back as something and maybe you don’t”.
