Burmese python found hidden in clothes at Homestead flea market

Authorities in Florida said a well-fed Burmese python gave a flea market shopper a scare when the wild snake turned up in a pile of clothes.

A reporter tried to capture a few video of the snake and it chose to come after her – and she almost dropped the camera! Firefighters then safely removed the snake from the flea market.

“It’s a good thing she didn’t grab it,” Lt. Scott Mullen told the Miami Herald. Mullen says that Burmese pythons have more than 100 sharp teeth, but are not venomous.

Members of the Miami-Dade County Venom One Unit were dispatched to the scene and captured the snake without anyone getting hurt.

The next stop for the Burmese python is a local fish and wildlife center.

It is common this time of year to find pythons in the area as fields are cleared for harvest.

The flea market python will likely be euthanized because of the infestation of pythons.
