“There’s been a rule at Forbes for the last 30 years: Take what Trump says and divide by three”, Lane said Tuesday on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. Because the bar is so high, 145 US billionaires missed the list.

While the state’s richest man, Citadel hedge fund founder Ken Griffin, upped his net worth from $5.5 billion to $7 billion to become the 69th richest American, Illinois’ third and fourth richest residents previous year, brothers J. Christopher Reyes and Jude Reyes, both moved to Florida. His stake in Microsoft, which he cofounded 40 years ago, now accounts for just under 13% of his fortune.

James Cargill, 66, an heir to the Cargill food and agriculture company who lives in Birchwood, according to Forbes, was eighth in the state and 211th – up from 235th – nationally with net worth of $3 billion. Warren Buffett places second in the U.S, followed by Larry Ellison. However, if measuring percentage jumps, Uber’s Travis Kalanick topped out by seeing his value double from $3 billion past year to $6 billion this.

The Republican presidential front-runner, who regularly boasts his worth is $10 billion or more, ranked 121st on the list with a net worth of only $4.5 billion. Trump would arrive on the list again as a billionaire for the first time only five years later, but his wild claims about his personal wealth have been dogged by accusations of exaggeration and hyperbole for years. “I mean, I look better if I’m worth $10 billion than if I’m worth $4 billion”, he admitted before eventually lashing out against the publication in typical Trump fashion.

The magazine unveiled its annual list of the wealthiest Americans Tuesday and the real estate mogul didn’t make the top 10, or even the top 100. He was among 25 people new to the top 400.
