Highline Athletes will go PINK Friday to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Throughout September and October, guests can purchase pink breast cancer awareness products including brushes and hair extensions.

On Tuesday, the focus will be bone cancer.

Last year’s Health Fair (a now-annual event) was held in Micoud, and attracted more than a hundred participants and attendees – many of whom received free examinations and valuable health care advice.

First results from the largest worldwide comparison of the treatment of elderly patients with breast cancer have shown there are substantial differences in the use of surgery, hormone therapy and chemotherapy between European countries. They are invited to donate £3 to Breast Cancer Now via text when they do so, and to encourage their friends and family to do so too by nominating them.

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month kicks off, five famous faces have pledged their support by being transformed into pretty pink princesses.

The athletes’ typical maroon jerseys will have a splash of pink, and the backs of the jerseys will feature the name of someone in the community who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Organisers said lighting up the tower in pink was “more than a symbol – it’s a sign of victory over this illness”.

“If it’s pink, we sell it”, said organizer Jodi Gietl.

Prevention can start at home with a monthly self-check.

This is why regular self-breast examination is imperative.

Women ages 50 to 74 should have a screening mammogram every two years.

I believe that one day breast cancer will never steal another year from anyone’s life.

The Calaveras County Chamber office will have strands of pink lights on hand for local businesses to pick up and display.

The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute clinical research oncologist out of Cambridge, United Kingdom goes on to say, “We have found that a few of the genetic mutations that drive breast cancers that relapse are relatively uncommon amongst cancers that do not relapse at the point of primary diagnosis”.

“Well lots of us in the community have been touched by cancer so that’s why we’re not just doing it for breast cancer“, she said.

Football players and cheer squads will hand out pink bracelets and commemorative footballs.

These ASB students are launching Pink Week wearing purple to represent all types of cancer. The football team will also be at Thursday’s event.

And it’s this celebration of togetherness and strength that is the aim of the Majestic Star Casino & Hotel and ECIER Foundation’s Jubilation Joy-Celebration, honoring Breast Cancer survivors.
