During the 2013-14 school year, Rogich posted student proficiency rates in math, reading and science between 17 percentage points and 33 percentage points higher than the state average.
Both schools were named as Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools, meaning they are among the state’s best in closing the achievement gap between a school’s subgroups and all students.
“Your journey has taught you collaboration, intentional instruction, and strong relationships in school and with your community”, Duncan said in a video sent to award schools.
The national honor was awarded to the Young Women’s Leadership Academy, a public all-girls school within the San Antonio Independent School District.
Idaho wasn’t the only state shut out Tuesday: Kansas, Oregon, Vermont and Washington also came up empty.
“This is really the highest honor a school can receive, especially on the federal level”, said Greg Carenza, principal at Webster Elementary.
Other schools in Louisiana that will be represented at that ceremony include Martin Petitjean Elementary School in Acadia Parish, Pointe-Aux-Chenes Elementary School in Terrebonne Parish, South Crowley Elementary School in Acadia Parish and Benjamin Franklin High School in Orleans Parish. “It truly affirms the hard work and commitment of our students, staff, parents, and school community”.

“I’m so proud of the work these teachers, school leaders and students put in each and every day to raise the bar for public schools in Montana”, Superintendent Juneau said. “This is a recognition they deserve for their actions”.
