THE Muslim faithful in Baguio City will gather at Burnham Park on September 25 to celebrate Eid’l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice.

To mark this, Muslims all over the world sacrifice an animal on that day.

“But on Tuesday I got a letter from Outwood to say that this won’t be happening this year”. The risk is said to be “low”, but elderly people, those with chronic diseases and immunodeficiency, pregnant women and children are advised to postpone their trip as a precautionary measure. However, God intervened before the sacrifice and replaced Ibrahim’s son with a lamb. “We hope the hard-line positions will be dropped and a compromise reached in the shortest time possible”, he said. People donate overseas but it is also common to give locally. In Bosnia, Muslims slaughter cattle, later distributing the meat to the needy. Prayers are offered in the mosques and the sacrificial meat is then distributed after the Id prayers.

Muslims believe that the Quran, or holy book, was revealed to Muhammad as the word of God.

In Christian tradition, Abraham was prepared to kill a different son, Isaac, who also was spared. That is a pilgrimage, which is the fifth pillar of Islam, to Mecca, the holiest city in Islam.

Eid was celebrated in some parts of the country on Thursday too.

Sadyia Khalique, director of operations for CAIR in New York, said there is “a huge problem” with Islamophobia in the United States but that the holiday could help change that.

The days surrounding it are filled with increased prayer, fasting and reading Quran, he said. This is the true spirit of Eid Al Ad-ha.

“So, to have Eid on one day is great for families and neighbours”. “I usually dress up my kids”.

In a statement, Ustadz Murad Ebrahim, chief of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), also called on fellow Muslims to continue working for peace with the national government. This is known as the testament of faith. Raazi, like millions of other Muslims, has participated in the Hajj.
