It’s the last thing I want to do, to be honest!’

While her Bangladeshi background didn’t usually feature deserts, that hasn’t stopped Nadiya whipping up show-stopping treats, with flavours occasionally inspired by her culture.
The semi-final of the Great British Bake Off airs on Wednesday, September 30 at 8pm on BBC One.
When asked by the Radio Times whether he was available, Tamal replied: “I wouldn’t have a girlfriend, I would have a boyfriend”.
In this week’s issue, Nadiya is joined by her fellow competitors Ian Cumming, Flora Sedden and Tamal Ray – who revealed for the first time in his life he’s been praying for a spot in next week’s final.
She added: “I’m just as British as anyone else, and I hope I have proved that”.
His single status might not stay that way for long though, the fan fave revealed that he’s “had a few offers on Twitter” from prospective dates. “Now people know who I am, I can see how tolerant and accepting British society is”. I think the show is a fantastic representation of British society today. “I didn’t feel good about my chances at all. I just prayed in a general sense and sent it out there”.
“I’m a Hindu, and I prayed quite a lot”.
Tamal Ray makes many people happy with his baking skills on The Great British Bake Off, but he’s also just made a lot of men happy by admitting he’s single. “I suppose there is a god of food, but I didn’t pray to him”. The current series, the second since it moved from BBC2, has averaged about 12 million viewers in the consolidated audience figures, up about 2 million on a year ago.
“When people find out about the Aga, they think I’m very posh”, Flora admitted.
Back at the beginning of this series of Bake Off, Tamal was inundated by racy tweets, with the anaesthetist writing: “Some of the lustier tweets have had me crying with laughter”.

Romance aside, the Bake Off experience has also made the 28-year-old more popular at work where he is a senior house officer at an intensive care unit.
