Leonard Fournette, Richie Brown named AL.com SEC players of the week

Texas A&M Head Football Coach, Kevin Sumlin, Defensive Coordinator John Chavis, Offensive Coordinator Jake Spavital and selected players met with the media Tuesday afternoon at Kyle Field to talk about the Aggies game against Mississippi State on Saturday.

No. 21 MSU (3-1, 1-1) is averaging 33 points this season, but it has shown it can score when it needs to. Texas A&M is coming off a 28-21 overtime win against Arkansas.

Brown and his Mississippi State teammates travel to Texas A&M 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Dak Prescott is completing 66.9 percent of his passes for 1,069 yards, seven touchdowns and zero interceptions. Richie Brown leads the Bulldogs with 39 tackles, A.J. Jefferson has 3.5 sacks and Will Redmond has two interceptions. Allen now leads the SEC in passing touchdowns. Brown’s 12 solo tackles tied for the most by an SEC player in a conference game this year. The 244 yards were the third-highest single-game total in LSU history and Fournette’s 631 yards are the most by any player in the first three games of an FBS season in the last 15 years. The Aggies are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

The junior ranks fourth in the Southeastern Conference with 39 tackles entering Saturday’s Top-25 matchup at Texas A&M.

MSU has allowed only 14.8 points per game this season and has surrendered one touchdown in the last nine quarters.
