Haas confirms Grosjean for 2016

Haas have confirmed that Romain Grosjean will be one of their drivers for the 2016 season. “Formula One is incredibly competitive and the only way to succeed is by finding new ways of doing things”.

“What Gene Haas and everyone at Haas F1 Team is building is impressive, and I’m very proud to be a part of it”, Grosjean said.

“This is a new opportunity with a new team that is taking a very different approach to Formula One”.

The Frenchman, 29, has been with Lotus for four years and has 10 podium finishes in 78 grands prix.

Gene Haas, a billionaire industrialist and founder/owner of the largest CNC machine tool manufacturing company in the United States, originally announced in January 2014 his intentions to race in F1 in 2015 but later postponed his launch until 2016.

After consistency outperforming team mate Pastor Maldonado the 29-year-old believes that working on his mental approach along with vehicle improvements has helped him to produce a few of the best results of his career.

Haas F1 Team would be the first American-owned team to compete in the Eurocentric series since 1986, when coincidentally-named Team Haas was last fielded by former CART owner Carl Haas and the late Teddy Mayer.

Grosjean has raced in F1 with Lotus since the start of the 2012 season, having clinched the GP2 title the previous year.
