It is yet to be know if Parkey will be healthy enough to resume his game with Eagles for the weekend.
The Eagles had serious concerns at kicker heading into the 2014 season when Alex Henery and Carey “Murderleg” Spear had one of the most uninspiring kicker competitions you’ll ever see.
The former Auburn kicker dealt with a groin injury during the preseason, but Philadelphia coach Chip Kelly said Parkey suffered a new injury while warming up for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.
While the signing of a kicker is not a major surprise after hearing about Parkey’s injury. In his two year career, Sturgis has connected on 77.5% of his field goal attempts and has not missed on an extra point attempt. He was also 6 for 8 from beyond 50 yards in 2011-2012.

The Eagles swung a preseason trade with the Indianapolis Colts past year to obtain Parkey, and he made it pay off by setting an National Football League rookie single-season scoring record with 150 points. Then just before the season began, the Eagles traded for Parkey, who went on to make the Pro Bowl as a rookie.
