Monday Forecast: Warmer and cloudy with rain on the way
Autumn weather will finally settle into Arkansas this week, with temperatures dropping after the unseasonably warm air that has blanketed the state since the official beginning of fall last Wednesday. Highs will get well into the 70s to near 80 degrees.

“We haven’t had significant rain for two weeks”, said AccuWeather.com meteorologist Tom Kines. The timing and intensity is still in question but it appears we’ll see rain at a few point (probably on Saturday) followed by an extended trend of below normal temperatures for the first week of October.
A strong cold front will deliver cooler temperatures, especially at night, and drier conditions beginning Wednesday night (Sept. 30) and lasting through the weekend, say forecasters with the Slidell office of the National Weather Service.
Thursday is expected to be cloudy, with a high near 64 and a low around 49.
While it has been mostly dry for the second half of September, it’s not the only time that has happened. That abundance is thanks in large part to June, which received about twice as much rain as normal, he said.

Relief is on the way, however, as the weather service said “a cool down is in the horizon”.
