Well, it’s that time of year when the greatest and most influential toys of all time are honored for their contributions to play at the National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester, New York.

Last year, little green Army men, the Rubik’s Cube and bubbles took their place in the hall, joining 53 other old favorites, including Barbie, Easy-Bake Oven, G.I. Joe, the Frisbee and View-Master. If you had to choose five toys from this year’s finalists to make the National Toy Hall of Fame, which would they be? Why?
To date, 56 toys have been inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame.
Anyone can nominate a toy for induction.
To be considered, the toy must meet certain criteria.
The Rubik’s Cube, inducted in 2014.
The National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester, N.Y., announced candidates for 2015 induction include American Girl dolls and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
PLAYMOBIL, first appearing in 1974, is a play set of 3-inch tall figures that include buildings, vehicles, animals, Vikings, Egyptians and pirates. But the turtles quickly evolved into a merchandizing Godzilla of toys, television shows, movies, video games and clothing.
